East African Debate Difference

The current debate structure in these three countries has not been able to address these issues that hinder the development of democracy in these societies. Debate as it is currently practiced in the society is purely academic and seeks to improve the public speaking skills of the participants. In order to be able to create young people that are both conscious and committed to their society, we believe that we need a new and progressive debate activity that focuses more on research and critical thinking. This progressive debate platform would equip and train leaders that would go in their communities and help solve the problems that they are faced with. It will be what scholars call praxis, theory that leads to action.
